How Scouts Operate

Scouts work as a Troop with a number of Patrols making up each Troop

A Troop is a group of Scouts who meet together on a regular basis. A Troop is composed of approximately four to eight Patrols and should not contain more than 50 Scouts.

A Patrol consists of 4 - 8 Scouts with a Patrol Leader elected to lead the team in setting and achieving their goals

The Patrol System is the basis of the Scout Section and came about when Baden-Powell, the Founder of Scouting, recognized that young people delight at forming themselves into small gangs or cliques each under its own leader whether for work, fun or mischief. He made use of this natural organization and called it the Patrol System

The 1st Fremantle Scout Troop meets between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings during the school term.

Scouts is about enthusiasm and taking on challenges. It is about team and leadership skills. It is about learning through adventure and fun.

Scouts aim to earn a series of badges, demonstrating knowledge of scouting skills such as camp craft, citizenship, water activities and care for the environment

The activities are aimed at helping Scouts learn about themselves, nature and helping others.
